What is Ultrasound?
Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs and soft tissues. It does not use radiation and is considered one of the safest imaging modalities available.
Ultrasound is especially useful for evaluating abdominal organs, thyroid, pelvis, and blood flow through arteries and veins using Doppler technology.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Most studies take approximately 20–30 minutes
No radiation exposure
Gel is applied to the skin to assist imaging
Some abdominal exams may require fasting
Doppler exams evaluate blood flow in real time
Results typically available within 24–48 hours
